Kitchen Renovation in Fulham

The Victorian terraces around Fulham are some of the busiest family homes in southwest London, and nine times out of ten it's the kitchen people want sorted first. Maybe you're on a tree lined street near Parsons Green, or in one of the red brick terraces off New Kings Road. Either way we've done plenty of these kitchens and we know how they go together.

The brief is usually the same. Knock through the back reception room, extend into the side return, and end up with one open plan space that runs kitchen, living and dining and opens onto the garden. We've built dozens of these across Fulham. Over the years we've got the tricky bits down, the steelwork, moving the drainage, getting the ventilation right, so the finished job holds up.

We do more than the standard side return though. On properties with a bit more room we design rear and wraparound extensions, and on bigger jobs we reconfigure the whole house from loft to lower ground so the kitchen sits right in the middle of everything. Light, sightlines and storage are the three things that decide whether an open plan kitchen in a terrace feels good or cramped, so we spend real time on them.

Fulham is mostly Victorian terrace housing, with the bulk of it built between the 1880s and 1900s. The terraces around Parsons Green, Munster Village and the Peterborough Estate tend to share the same bones. Solid brick party walls, timber floors, and a poky rear addition that's begging to be replaced.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council is generally fine with single storey rear extensions and side return infills under permitted development. It's a family area, so there's always demand for a big sociable kitchen. Get the kitchen right and it's about the best money a Fulham owner can spend on the place.
