Kitchen Renovation in Dulwich

Dulwich has some handsome houses. Big Edwardian and Victorian places around Dulwich Village, College Road and the streets looking onto Dulwich Park, a lot of them detached or semi detached. Houses like that deserve a proper kitchen, and that is what we build.

The larger properties often still have an original kitchen wing or old service rooms at the back, which gives us a lot to work with. We usually knock the kitchen, scullery and pantry into one big room, with a generous central island, professional appliances and full width glazed doors straight out to the garden.

East Dulwich and the streets around Lordship Lane run smaller, terraces and modest semis, but the thinking is the same. Side return extensions, internal knock throughs and clever storage give you a kitchen that feels roomy and sociable without a huge extension.

Dulwich sits in the London Borough of Southwark, and parts of it fall under the Dulwich Estate, which has its own design rules on top of the council's. We have worked inside the Estate's guidelines plenty of times and can steer a job through both without it holding things up.

Dulwich is one of the more sought after parts of south London, centred on the Village and running through East Dulwich to Lordship Lane. The houses are a mix of large Edwardian villas, Victorian semis and good terraces, many on generous plots with mature gardens.

The Dulwich Estate, a charitable trust that manages a lot of the area, sets design standards to keep the village feel. On Estate properties a kitchen extension or external alteration needs Estate approval as well as Southwark Council planning. It is a two stage process and we manage both as standard.
